SINGAPORE, 18 OCTOBER, 2010: An attempt by a Malaysian boatman to smuggle three Chinese nationals into Singapore last night was foiled by the city-state's authorities.
The 28-year-old boatman, and his passengers, a 37-year-old man, and two women, aged 28 and 34, were arrested after their speedboat sank during a sea chase.
Relating the case today, Singapore police said acting on a tip-off, Police Coast Guard and Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officers detected the unlit speedboat moving towards the waters off Pulau Ubin at around 9.30 pm. Full story
