Lim ranked on the Forbes rich-list as the eighth-richest Singaporean he is the son of a fishmonger and grew up in a two-bedroom council house sharing with 11 other family members.During his studies at university in Australia he worked part-time as a taxi driver, fast-food waiter and cook before moving back home where he made his fortune on the stock market before becoming a private investor in 1996 to mainly Indonesian clients.
