Singapore: the cloud computing hub

Not content with dominating financial services, Singapore is emerging as the cloud-computing hub for the Asia Pacific region, according to new research.
Cloud computing enables a financial services company to access its IT applications through the web, on a shared data centre provided by a third party, theoretically enabling it to reduce costs on networks, servers and storage.
According to technology consultant Ovum, Singapore is leading the race to dominate the lucrative field of cloud computing in the Asia-pacific region, with obvious parallels to its increasingly dominant status as the capital of Southeast Asian finance. Full story
