Singapore dredging firm gives veto power to locals in Phangnga province.

The Singaporean company behind a controversial sand-dredging project in Phangnga province now says it will withdraw from the project if it is opposed by local residents.
KSand and Resources Cooperation had offered to help the Tambon Bang Nai Sri Administrative Office in Takua Pa district clear the sediment blocking the mouth of the Takua Pa River.
The company said it would clear the sediment free of charge in exchange for shipping the sand for use in Singapore.
