SINGAPORE, 25 JUNE 2008 - Singapore is expected - within four years - to have APAC’s highest number of PCs, per 1000 population, according to analyst firm Gartner.
Gartner expects the Lion City to have three million PCs this year, or 672 PCs per 1000 population. The PC useage growth rate is, however, expected to slow after 2009, because of Singapore’s status as a mature market. Never-the-less the Lion City will likely have 4.5 million PC units, or 948 per 1000 people, by 2012.
The Singapore figures came out of new Gartner research which has found there are now more than one billion PCs in use across the globe, and this will grow about 12 per cent annually. By 2014 there will likely be two billion PCs in use.
