The Ahmedabad police has busted an international job racket and arrested one travel agent who duped people promising them lucrative jobs in foreign countries. The racket came to light when three youths who were promised jobs in Singapore were left to fend themselves after being cheated of 800 dollars each. The trio was in such a bad situation that they had to spend ten days in a gurudwara before returning back.
According to reports Irshad Dodiya from Ahmedabad, Nilesh Kareliya from Mehsana and Vinod Patel from Bhavanagar were promised jobs in Singapore. They had contacted Mohammed Iliyas Qureshi of Nisha Travels in Maninagar on the basis of advertisements in the newspapers. Qureshi charged Rs.20,000 each and sent them off to Singapore. He asked them to contact one Sunil Nepali there. Sunil charged $800 from each for job hunting and then disappeared. His mobile was out of service and the three youths were literally on roads.
One of them approached gurudwara authorities in Singapore and they allowed them to stay there as the return tickets were of June 15. As soon as the trio reached Ahmedabad they went straight to the police and Qureshi was arrested. According to police Qureshi has sent more than 15 people like this. Investigation is on and more links are expected to be disclosed in the case.
