Iran, Singapore eager to expand ties

LONDON, May 6 (IranMania) - The Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has described cooperation among IOR-ARC member states as very positive, PressTV reported.

In a meeting with Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Mottaki expressed hope that the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation Conference in Tehran would prepare the necessary ground for the realization of the association's potential.

The minister stressed the importance and necessity of connection between the Iranian and Singaporean private sectors, saying there is ample room for expansion of mutual relations in various areas, particularly in trade and economic sectors.

Rasheed, who is in Tehran to attend the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation Conference, said that Singapore welcomes the creation of new opportunities for the development of ties with the Islamic Republic.

He emphasized the necessity of enhancing bilateral trade and strengthening cooperation in research.
