Singapore, 15 February 2008 — Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) today announced the launch of RedPAC (Parent And Child) where a parent and his/her child can share the bundled minutes of talktime and short message service on the adult’s subscription plan.

This is the first supplementary postpaid mobile plan for children in Singapore, the telco claimed. The plan targets parents with children aged seven to 15.

According to SingTel, the RedPAC plan aims to increase communication between parent and child by providing free talktime worth up to S$150 (before goods and services tax) a month.

The talktime applies between the two mobile phone lines used by the parent and the child. The plan also comes with an additional 150 free SMSes for both the users.

“The launch of RedPAC sets a new benchmark in the mobile communications market and will significantly change the way families communicate with each other,” said Wong Soon Nam, SingTel’s vice president of consumer marketing.

Customers can start subscribing to the new plan from tomorrow at any SingTel shop or authorised retailer at a special introductory price of S$8.56 a month, SingTel said. The usual price is S$10.70.
