SINGAPORE — The commissioning of three new Formidable-class frigates — RSS Intrepid, Steadfast and Tenacious — into the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) is “a major milestone in the transformation of the third-generation RSN,” according to Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean.
“The introduction of the frigates will provide the RSN with a quantum leap in warfare capabilities,” Teo said during the Feb. 5 commissioning ceremony at Changi Naval Base. “The frigates will contribute significantly towards the seaward defense of Singapore and the protection of her sea lines of communication.”
