The World Effie Festival, which will be held in Singapore on 28th & 29th February 2008, will showcase the world’s most effective marketing campaigns, with case study presentations from 25 winners of Gold Effie Awards from around the globe.

The 25 Gold Effie Winners will share their knowledge and experience with more than 2,000 marketing communications professionals who are expected to attend the inaugural World Effie Festival. The event is dedicated to understanding, inspiring and celebrating creative effectiveness in communications and will feature a stellar cast of speakers, including Lord Sebastian Coe, the former double Olympic gold medalist and now Chairman of the 2012 London Olympics, together with heads of global advertising agencies and marketing chiefs of some of the world’s most powerful brands.

Singapore’s Minister Mentor, Lee Kuan Yew, will also speak about the creation of “Brand Singapore” in a special dialogue in which he will be interviewed by Jean-Marie Dru, worldwide CEO of the advertising group TBWA.

The Gold Effie Winner presentations will include two Gold Winners from the same or a related category plus a moderated question and answer session where they will discuss the strategy behind their successful campaigns. Judd Labarthe, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Effie Awards, said, “The presentations by past Effie winners will provide WEF delegates with a unique opportunity to learn and share ‘best practice’
with some of the masters of their craft”.

The featured winners include agencies from Argentina, China, Europe, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States, with campaigns from diverse categories such as Consumer Products, Financial Services, FMCG, F&B, Internet and Telecommunications.

Judd Labarthe added: “The overall theme of the World Effie Festival is ‘ideas with consequences’ – ideas which have measurably changed the way people think and behave – and the audience is people who work in the field of marketing and
communications, whether as marketers responsible for building brands, or as agencies supplying ideas and advice. We want this festival to educate, inspire and provoke the delegates”.

Other elements of the World Effie Festival include “Thought Catalysts” – a series of presentations by globally-renowned business leaders and agency heads. There will also be “Premier Master Classes” by top thinkers and experts in their fields who will share their experiences of developing and executing successful campaigns.

The event will also feature the presentation of the Global Effie Awards – the first time this has occurred outside New York, where the Effie Organisation was founded in 1968. The first-ever Asia Pacific Effie Awards will also be presented, celebrating the most effective campaigns developed by advertising and marketing agencies across the region.

In addition to the more than 2,000 advertising and marketing professionals expected to attend the inaugural World Effie Festival, a global audience of “virtual” delegates will be able to view the highlights via blogs and webcasts. The World Effie Festival is intended to become an annual calendar event, with the second festival already confirmed for Singapore in February 2009.

The World Effie Festival is presented by the New York American Marketing Association and the Institute of Advertising Singapore (IAS).
