PETALING JAYA: Singapore hitman Noh Alam Shah will not be playing for Police in the Super League this season.
The FA of Malaysia (FAM) confirmed that the 28-year-old former Tampines Rovers striker is not eligible to play in the Malaysian Super League (MSL). FIFA, the world governing body, have issued a statement saying the one-year ban on Noh Alam from playing in Singapore encompasses all FIFA members.
FAM competitions committee chairman Datuk Che Mat Jusoh said Noh Alam would not be given a licence to play in Malaysia.
“The statement issued by FIFA is clear and we have to follow it,” said Che Mat after chairing the competition committee meeting at the Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya on Thursday.
Noh Alam was a member of the Singapore team who won the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Championship in 2005 and 2007.
At the 2007 edition, he was the top scorer and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Noh Alam is serving a one-year ban from domestic competitions in Singapore for a frenzied on-pitch attack on international team-mate Daniel Bennet in a Cup final match, which Tampines lost 3-4 last November.
In another case, the Malacca FA have been hauled up to face the disciplinary board after their President’s Cup Under-21 team fielded three to four over-aged players in two league matches against Penang (1-3) and Kuala Muda Naza (0-2). Malacca, who lost both the games, were faulted 0-3.
Another team also in trouble is KL City Hall, who have failed to respond to the FAM on their withdrawal from the FAM Cup competition this year. They will face the disciplinary committee. The committee, however, have accepted the withdrawal of Telekom Malacca from the Super League and Beverly Hills of Sabah from the Premier League.
