With Singapore just over a year away from having its first integrated casino-resort a number of its business students visited the Grand Lisboa recently hoping to learn some trade secrets.
The Grand Lisboa hosted a study tour of Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration students from the Singapore based Asian Centre for Professional Excellence (ACPE).
Grand Lisboa was the only gaming operations that the group visited in Macau, the casino reported yesterday.
The group of 18 students, most holding supervisory and managerial positions in reputable organisations from various industries such as Information Technology, security, airline, government as well as transportation services. The students’ involvement in casino-related projects meant that the study tour to Macau was seen as critically important to the research of their projects and to increasing their overall knowledge of gaming operations.
During their visit to Grand Lisboa, the group was briefed on the overall operations of a casino. Other subjects covered included crisis management, promotions and membership loyalty systems.
Dr Jürgen Rudolph, Chief Operating Officer of ACPE said of the visit, “We are very grateful for the continued support of Grand Lisboa and its management who provided our students with an expertly conducted tour of the casino and hotel facilities as well as the wonderful hospitality they displayed throughout the tour.”
One of the students, Ho Wei Jun, who is an Intelligence Specialist of the Singapore Armed Forces, said that the tour was an enriching and eye-opening experience and that he had learnt interesting facts such as marketing strategies over competitors of Grand Lisboa.
Serene Chia, Director of Marketing for Grand Lisboa, who led the tour, said that, “Grand Lisboa is pleased that the students benefited from the tour and that they had the opportunity of gaining practical experience of a gaming operation.”
