The Singapore Tourism Board has appointed Jason Ong as their new area director for the Middle East and Africa.
Jason brings with him nearly a decade of global tourism and destination marketing experience, the Singapore Tourism Board said.
He will be responsible for a number of campaigns and promotions in 2008 designed to attract Middle East families, business travellers and tourists to Singapore and build on the 19 per cent visitor growth that the Southeast Asian city has enjoyed from the region in 2007.
Jason’s key focus will be to strengthen Singapore’s branding as a world-class destination for UAE travellers, as well as reach out to emerging source markets for Singapore such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iran, the Board said.
“The Middle East region is a key market for the Singapore Tourism Board, and we are very excited to roll out our new plans to attract an even greater number of visitors from this region,” Jason noted.
“I am confident that Singapore will remain a top destination for Middle East travellers and we look forward to strengthening our ties to this region by promoting Singapore’s full calendar of events and attractions, in addition to its world-class MICE and healthcare offering,” he added.
Based in Dubai at STB’s new office, Jason will be working closely with a number of regional partners and tour operators to engage in joint travel promotions and activities.-TradeArabia News Service
