Eight Indian Nationals Caught At Trivandrum Airport Trying To Smuggle 3.5kg Gold From Singapore

The Times Of India, 24 Oct 2013
Officers of the Customs Preventive Commissionerate caught eight people at Trivandrum International Airport carrying 24 gold biscuits and jewellery.
They had arrived in two separate flights - Silk Air and Tiger Airways - from Singapore on Tuesday. But no arrests have been made as the upper limit for carrying gold (per person) is up to Rs 20 lakh worth.
The 24 gold biscuits weighing 2.56kg and 0.55kg of jewellery together worth a total of Rs 90 lakh were concealed under airport trolleys using a two-way sticky tape in order to avoid detection by Customs officials.  Full story
