Lim Yew Hock was Singapore's second Chief Minister. The first was David Marshall. Lim was the man who dealt the violent Leftist group, led by Lim Chin Siong and Fong Swee Suan, in a decisively fashion that impressed the Brit Admin. It was his firm decision and strong leadership that gave the Brits confidence that Singapore could have autonomous rule. Lee Kuan Yew was nothing more than a passive observer. Full story
