But one of the challenges facing businesses like Patec, Kelvin says, is that it's not always easy to find Singaporeans to do the job required for the right price.
Kelvin says, from a business perspective, its tough to choose a Singaporean candidate over someone who will be competent and more cost effective.
"I could get an engineering graduate from one of the top universities in China for a quarter, or a third [of the pay]."
"And he would be willing to work six days a week 10 hours a day. How do you fight with that?"
