SINGAPORE: Residents in Singapore are calling for a change in mindset after racism has again become a tipping point of tension in the Southeast Asian city-state. It follows controversy related to a Facebook posting by a union employee and government responses for calm.
“The reality is that we have a lot of racism in this country, online and on the street,” Yussif Jamal, a Singapore citizen and Muslim, told Bikyamasr.com. “I get it all the time when I am in certain areas of the city because they see my beard and call me strange names.” Full story
