Prof Lim's "shock therapy" to revamp wages; Econ Restructuring II

Leading Economics Professor Lim Chong Yah, former Chair of National Wage Council, called for a radical shake-up of pay for low-income earners and salary freeze at the top. His 3-year restructuring proposal would help close the widening income gap in Singapore and ease its dependence on foreign workers.
Prof Lim wants those earning below SGD1,500 a month to get pay rises of 15% in 1st year, further 15% in second year and 20% in 3-yr year. And Pay freeze for those earning SGD15,000 or more a month. People falling between should get an annual pay increase of 4-5%. Full story
