Our sphere comes under more pressure as five million people – Singaporeans, new immigrants and foreign workers - jostle for housing, jobs, places in school or just a standing space on the train.
And as people of different cultures and customs live and work cheek by jowl on our small island, a tolerance for each other’s ways is hard to always pull off with graciousness, a smile and a genuine ‘so where are you from?’
It is no wonder this pressure sometimes gets too much, and people’s frustrations explode into wicked words and actions. Full story
