An escalator at Toa Payoh MRT station has been shut down after it caught fire and spewed smoke on Tuesday morning.
An SMRT spokesperson told Yahoo! Singapore that at around 9:10am a fault occurred on an up-riding escalator at the concourse level of the station. The escalator was immediately closed for repairs.
"Our team of engineers were on-site at around 9:20am, and are investigating the cause of the fault and preparing to carry out the repair," said the SMRT spokesperson. Full story
