Up to 60,000 commuters were affected during a peak hour train breakdown between Dhoby Ghaut and HarbourFront MRT stations on the North East Line (NEL) on Thursday morning.
The breakdown on the NEL line, which is still currently unavailable, is due to an overhead power supply problem in the tunnel at Outram Park station.
Operator of the NEL Line, SBS Transit, said it discovered at about 5am that overhead power cables at the tunnel had snapped. Up to 25 engineers were deployed to repair the cable fault, which could take up until noon. Full story
