OPINION: Is NUS PRC scholar Sun Xu required to serve National Service?
The Singapore government has sponsored Sun Xu with scholarship beginning in 2006 to study in Raffles Junior College, and thereafter another scholarship to study in NUS, for a total of six years of free education and expenses fully paid for by the state. The question on everyone's lip now is whether Sun Xu is required to serve National Service after taking so much benefits from Singapore? Maybe our opposition MPs can put this question to Teo Chee Hean.

No, there's no need for him to do any national service, but he would expect our NS men to protect him in any eventual.
if he does not serve the NATIONAL SERVICE why are singaporeans paying for his studies MOE PLEASE ANSWER
Since the government has invested so much of the tax payers money on this guy, he certainly has the duty and responsibility to serve National Service and pledge his allegiance to Singapore. Otherwise, how can the government justify his FREE education (a total of six years ALL FULLY PAID)??? Are there other areas where tax payers money can be better used?
Better not, he might use his gun to shot those he called dogs.
He is not a Singaporean, not even a PR, how can he serve Singapore National Service? Ask yourself, would you trust a foreigner inside your own army? He could be a spy and before you know it, all your military secrets belong to China. Whatever that you do, making him serve NS is OUT of the question.

It was reported that he came from an affluent family from suzhou. Why does he need to be sponsored on scholarship then? Given it is an MOE scholars, is he going to be the future educator in SG? After this incident and tarnishment, I doubt he will want to stay now.

Sun Xu should be made to pay back our tax-payers money(every single cent of it) and have haul his pathetic ass elsewhere other than Singapore for having insulted we Singaporeans(regardless of age, gender, race)
