Fall of Singapore 70th anniversary commemorated in Wellington

More than 15,000 Australians taken prisoner by the Japanese are being remembered on the 70th anniversary of the fall of Singapore on Wednesday.
The diggers and nurses were taken prisoner following one of the most costly campaigns of World War II.
"We must never forget the courage of these men and women who were captured in Singapore and all across the Pacific region during the Second World War," Veterans Affairs Minister Warren Snowdon said. Full story
