Singapore PMI contracts for 6th straight month in Dec, economy sinking into recession

SINGAPORE, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Singapore's manufacturing sector contracted for a sixth straight month in December as orders continued to shrink, a business survey showed on
Wednesday, lending weight to fears the economy could sink into a recession.
The Purchasing Manager's Index (PMI) for December stood at 49.5 points, up from November's 48.7 but below the key 50-point level that demarcates expansion from contraction in activity, the Singapore Institute of Purchasing & Materials Management said. Full story
