I am also disturbed by Ee’s concern that some of his friends may not be attracted by the new pay scales. This is what Ee said his friends might remark: “Don’t kid me, S$1.1 million, don’t come and kachau (disturb) me.”
Do we really need the kind of politician for whom money is the real attraction, and not the honour of serving their fellow citizens and taking their country (which they should love) to greater heights? I would feel ashamed of friends who display such an attitude towards public service. Full story
