LTA orders all MRT trains to reduce speed at city centre

Trains will slow down when passing Singapore's city centre after a team of engineers found that equipment securing a rail that carries power supply to trains in that area had been dislodged.
In a statement on Sunday, the Land Transport Authority, which together with train operator SMRT fielded a team of 150 staff to examine trains and tracks at the North-South and East-West lines Saturday evening, said they found several instances of dislodged or dropped "claws" at sections of tunnels in the city area where floating slab tracks are installed.
