Should multi-car ownership be discouraged?

Since Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew announced plans on Monday to cut the number of vehicles plying Singapore’s roads, widespread debate has ensued on and offline.
One wrote that the government should not ignore Singaporeans’ aspirations to own a car and that it should instead find creative ways to help its citizens realize that dream.
He suggested having a separate Certificate of Entitlement (COE) category for first-time or single-car families, pegging a limit to the capacity of the cars sold there, as well as to move taxis into a separate category. Full story
