SMRT: No damages for Nong Than

The Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT), which operates the urban rail system in Singapore, has decided not to compensate 15-year-old Nitcharee Peneakchanasak, or Nong Than, who lost both her legs after falling on to the tracks at Ang Mo Kio station in April.
Her father Kitthanet confirmed the SMRT's stance yesterday, after having been informed by staff from the Thai embassy in Singapore a few days ago.
Mr Kitthanet said he had been informed that the Singaporean police had wrapped up its four-month investigation into his daughter's case and could not blame the SMRT for the accident. Instead, the police said the accident was caused by Nong Than's carelessness. Full story
