Training should also be given to foreign workers to upgrade their skills, similar to what Singaporeans are getting, said labour Member of Parliament (MP) Yeo Guat Kwang.
This would “create a level playing field” for all workers, he said, adding that training and certification for work permit and “S” pass holders should be done within the first two years of their employment.
Successful certification should then be used as a condition for renewal of work passes, he noted at the Migrant Workers’ Forum on Sunday. Full story
