SIA A380 tyre exploded during take-off, 401 passengers affected

It was a terrifying moment for 401 passengers on Sunday night when the tyre of a Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 they were on exploded, just moments before take-off. The explosion caused the flight headed for Melbourne, to be delayed by almost 8 hours, affecting all passengers on board.
The accident happened at 9pm on Sunday at Changi Airport Terminal 3. According to an insider, the tyre of SQ229 exploded while cruising on the runway. Airport security and a fire engine had to be called in to escort the aircraft for inspection.
Information provided by the airport showed that other than Singapore Airlines passengers, the flight also had other passengers from Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic airlines on board. Link
