Tan Jee Say: A non-PAP President can provide real and effective checks and balances on the excesses of the PAP Government

Pro-Singaporean leader and presidential hopeful Tan Jee Say said he is contesting for the presidency to serve as a check on the PAP government.
Speaking during a SDP event yesterday, Mr Tan Jee Say said a non-PAP President can provide real and effective checks and balances on the excesses of the PAP Government.
“The mission of the elected President is to provide checks and balances on the Government and the President will not be doing his duty if he does not speak up whenever the Government crosses the line or when the Government fails to deliver on the promises they have made to the people. He has the moral authority to do so as he is directly elected by the people.” Full story
