Tiger Airways grounded until August 1

The aviation safety regulator tonight announced it will will seek a court order to keep Tiger Airways Australia grounded until August 1, due to ongoing safety concerns, dashing the airline's hopes of a return to the skies this weekend.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority announced it will apply to the Federal Court in Melbourne tomorrow morning to seek an order to extend the airline's licence suspension onwards from Saturday.
"If CASA completes its investigations and determinations before 1 August 2011 and is satisfied Tiger Airways Australia no longer poses a serious and imminent risk to air safety it may be possible for it to resume operations earlier," the regulator said in a statement just issued. Full story
