Without treaty, Singapore is a ‘haven for graft fugitives’

The government should enforce an extradition treaty with Singapore to allow it pursue graft suspects who flee to the neighboring country, critics say.
Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) reports that 45 people linked to graft cases fled overseas in the last 10 years, with 20 choosing to go to neighboring Singapore.
“The 45 comprise suspects and even convicts, with 20 choosing to go to Singapore. Others went to Australia, China, Hong Kong or Canada. The whereabouts of some others are unknown,” ICW activist Emerson Yuntho said at a discussion on graft fugitives in Jakarta on Saturday. Full story
