OPINION: Singapore’s disgruntled workforce - Matthew Guenther

Last week, the Straits Times (the leading Singapore daily) published an article proclaiming that Singaporean workers are the unhappiest in the world. The article cites research by Lumesse, which was based on interviews with 4,000 employees in 14 countries. The results placed Singapore last for the percentage of workers who enjoy going to work, the level of loyalty to a company, and concluded that the island state has the least supportive workplaces. The findings are surprising and – if true – give rise to the question of why Singaporean employees are so unhappy and what can be done to address the problem. Full story
