The trial of former Romanian diplomat Silviu Ionescu in a hit-and-run case began in Bucharest on Friday, with some witnesses giving their testimonies from Singapore via video-link.
Ionescu, is on trial for culpable manslaughter, fleeing the scene of an accident, and giving false statements. He is charged with a hit-and-run case that killed one and injured another in Singapore while he was based here.
The former diplomat, who has since returned to Romania, claimed his innocence. Full story
