Singapore used to have big families but with the government’s rule to reduce the population under the strongman leader Lee Kuan Yew, it is now regretting its two-children policy so that the government now has to give incentives for married couples to have more children.
The drastic population reduction has depleted the number of workers needed in government as well as in private services. Even if the government is doing everything to reverse its regrettable population control, the practice has become a deeply rooted habit for couples that it will take a generation or two to reverse the trend.
