Attended the Workers' Party rally last night at Bedok Stadium, my first for this election. To say that the whole place was crowded is an understatement. It was shoulder-to-shoulder standing room only. Despite the discomfort, for the first time in 5 years, I felt that I was home again. Standing together around me were my fellow Singaporeans, with our familiar accent and Singlish. For the past 5 years, with foreigners all around me everywhere I go, I felt like a stranger in my own country. Last night at Bedok Stadium, I felt that I was in Singapore again. In fact, I made a few new friends there and we exchanged name cards, promising to keep in touch thereafter. Sadly, there are only 5 days left to enjoy this 'home' feeling at these rallies. Then we are back to being a stranger in this country for the next five years.
