Singapore asked to withhold death penalty for pirates

Singapore is being asked to provide guarantees 18 Somali nationals suspected of an attack on a Singapore-flagged tanker will not face the death penalty.
An EUNavfor spokesman said the pirates would be released unless a country with an interest in the case offers to undertake prosecution, while at the same pledging that their human rights will be upheld in full. Link
