Singapore Jan inflation accelerates to 5.5 pct

(RTTNews) - Singapore's annual inflation rose to 5.5% in January, owing to higher costs of transport, housing and food, the Department of Statistics said on Wednesday. Economists were expecting the annual rate to slow to 4.4% from 4.6% in December. From December, consumer prices rose 1.6% in January.
Excluding accommodation costs, the consumer price index was 5.3% higher in January 2011 compared with a year ago. Full story
