Orchard Road To Be Raised To Prevent Flash Floods

SINGAPORE, Oct 21 (Bernama) - The city-state authority will raise the low-lying stretch of Orchard Road to prevent flash floods from recurring in Singapore's prime shopping and tourism belt.
PUB, the national water agency said Thursday S$26 million will be spent to raise 1.4km of the low-lying stretch of Orchard Road from Orange Grove Road to Cairnhill, by 300mm.
Orchard Road experienced flash floods on June 16 after two successive bursts of intense rainfall, causing havoc to traffic in the city, damage to property and disrupting businesses there. Full story
