Singapore Govt Denies Falun Gong Practitioner Re-Entry Permit

Zhi Hui is a Chinese national, and has been a permanent resident of Singapore since 2005. But now that status may be at risk, apparently because she practices Falun Gong—a spiritual practice the Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting for more than ten years.
Zhi’s re-entry permit expired in May, but the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority refused to renew it. Without a re-entry permit, Zhi could lose her permanent resident status if she leaves the country.
Zhi Hu: “When I asked about the reason for the refusal, during the 30 minute discussion with the official, the fact that I’m a Falun Gong practitioner became the center of the discussion. A few things she said stuck in my mind. Right at the start she said the Singaporean government has a very strong stance on Falun Gong.” Full Story
