Zhi Hui is a Chinese national, and has been a permanent resident of Singapore since 2005. But now that status may be at risk, apparently because she practices Falun Gong—a spiritual practice the Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting for more than ten years.Zhi’s re-entry permit expired in May, but the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority refused to renew it. Without a re-entry permit, Zhi could lose her permanent resident status if she leaves the country.
