POEA warns Singapore job seekers

THE Philippine Overseas Employment Administration yesterday told Filipinos aspiring to work as domestic helpers in Singapore not to rely on travel agencies to get employment.
POEA administrator Jennifer Manalili said there is a syndicate composed of "travel agency operators who are moonlighting as employment agents."
Citing a report from labor attaché to Singapore Rodolfo Sabulao, Manalili said at least 99 percent of Filipino domestic helpers who have run away from their employers were deployed by travel agents and do not have valid overseas employment documents issued by the POEA. Full Story
