Malaysian police discover new people smuggling route through Singapore

Australia Network News, 24 May 2010
Malaysian marine police say they've discovered a new human trafficking route involving neighbouring Singapore's Changi airport.
Southern marine police chief Khamsani Abdul Rahman says smugglers usually bring in their illegal cargo through Kuala Lumpur International Airport and then sneak them out to Indonesia and Australia but that recently that had changed.
He says people smugglers now fly Afghans to Singapore and then take them across the causeway into Malaysia before smuggling them to Indonesia.
It follows 10 Afghans being smuggled to Indonesia who were detained after Malaysian police chased a boat off southern Johor state on Friday. Link
