SINGAPORE, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- A senior Singapore government official stressed here on Saturday the importance of SMEs in economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
Speaking at the APEC seminar on accelerating SMEs' access to global markets, Singapore's Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Manpower Lee Yi Shyan said that the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) account for approximately 90 percent of all businesses in the APEC region and employ as much as 60 percent of the total work force.
