Eircom has lodged an appeal with the High Court against a decision by telecoms watchdog ComReg ordering the company to drop its monthly charge for access to its network for competitors from €8.41 to 77c.
While details of the basis of the appeal are unknown, it is understood it relates to the extent of the drop required by the regulator.
The move comes just a day after Eircom's main shareholder, Australian fund Eircom Holdings, recommended a bid of just over €132.5m for the company by Singapore Technologies Telemedia (STT).
