Singaporization of American education and Americanization of Singapore education?

INTERNATIONAL – In a series of proposed reforms to the American education system, President Barack Obama looks set to take a leaf out of our book – our education system. Obama was concerned that American kids are falling behind in their math and science standards as reflected by standardized test scores when compared with other developed nations. It is known that Singapore kids outperform their American counterparts when it comes to standardized test scores. This led Obama to remark:”Singapore’s middle-schoolers outperform ours three to one. Just a third of our thirteen and fourteen-year olds can read as well as they should. ”
