Singapore's April port volumes dropped sharply

April container throughput in the port of Singapore dropped both month-on-month and year-on-year, according to figures released by the local port authority.
April throughput fell to 2.09 million TEUs, down from 2.19 million TEUs in March and 2.53 million TEUs in April 2008, figures from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) showed.
The volume slip came after throughput surged 18.4% in March from 1.85 million TEUs in February.
