Singapore says no quick recovery, unemployment to grow

SINGAPORE, May 18 (Reuters) - Singapore's economy will worsen this year and unemployment is expected to rise, President SR Nathan said on Monday.
Speaking at the resumption of Parliament after a mid-term break, Nathan reiterated the government's forecast for the economy to contract 6-9 percent and said the world is headed for an extended period of slow economic growth.
