SINGAPORE, May 25 (Xinhua) -- A survey showed that Singaporeans are opting for home cooked meals instead of dining out in the backdrop of the economic downturn, local media reported on Monday.
According to local radio 938live, the survey by the Nielsen Company said that local consumers are spending more on fresh food, groceries and household items. The average monthly household expenditure has increased by 14 percent compared to last year, in part driven by higher food prices and increased home cooking in a bid to cut down on dining out expenses.
