SIA's bold Latin move pays off

Singapore Airlines' launch of chartered flights to Latin American countries on February 7 raised eyebrows in the industry as instead of flying eastward across the Pacific it took the bold step of flying westward via Europe.
But since then the carrier has proved skeptics wrong as the route has proven lucrative and the flights are now part of its regular scheduled flight service in its summer schedule.
